Now that I know Nick and I have a boy on the way, I can’t tell you how smitten I am with the Smith family — Jenni and her sweet hubby Grant brought along their pint-sized boys, Lane (who’s 2 soon-to-be 3) and the adorable Corbin (7 months) for a family session with me over the weekend. Lots of giggles, tickles, and a couple scoops of ice cream afterward to celebrate — can’t wait to share more from our time together soon! Jenni, I just LOVE these little men in your life! Makes me so excited for what’s in store for Nick and I this fall!
What do you want to know about me? Because I’m pretty much an open book. Speaking of books, my Bio section is where I reveal more about myself—from favorite reads, to my love of cooking, to why my mama calls me her “old soul”.
But maybe my favorite memory of this month is my favorite because it's the silliest. Your dad and I have been trying to find ways to make the dinner hour more fun for you. You haven't been loving your highchair lately, so we've been trying to distract you from this fact in any way we can. Enter music. We always have the radio on during dinner, but as of late, it's been Big Hair Band Sing-a-longs with you (your mom does a mean version of Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer") and your dad has decided that our family is in a band. Our name? Strainer Head. (Which is convenient since we have three strainers in the house so we all have one to wear as we sing and dance around the kitchen.)
A book that shares a powerful message about our out-of-control digital age, an album that is non-stop-listenable from start to finish (with a great cover no less!) and a Richard Curtis film about life, love and the wonderfulness of the everyday ... here's a peek at a few of the things I was loving this month.
Consider this post the sarcastic sibling of all those saccharine essays and lists about how much motherhood will change your life and how you never knew you could love someone so much as your newborn child (because it does, and you will). And if you're a parent who has a one-liner or two to add to this list, well, I'd love to hear from you in the comments.
